3 Facts You May Not Know About Invisalign

Who doesn’t want a Hollywood smile that makes you look and feel beautiful? But few people want to live with a mouthful of metal for years. Traditional braces once were the most popular treatment for crooked teeth. But today, we have Invisalign®, a discreet treatment that Dr. Beatriz Parra and our team at Millennium Dental use to change your smile faster and with less fuss than metal braces.

Braces, which are glued to your teeth and connected by wires, take years to straighten teeth. They’re often ugly, uncomfortable, and tend to trap whatever you’re eating. Invisalign, however, is an almost invisible treatment that corrects your smile quickly with little fuss and discomfort.

Invisalign details

Invisalign straightens your teeth with a system of clear retainers that gently nudge your teeth into their ideal positions. Millions of people have used the Invisalign system, a vote of confidence for this modern treatment.

Invisalign treats a variety of dental misalignment issues such as gaps between teeth, crowded teeth, and crooked teeth as well as bite problems like overbites, underbites, and crossbites.

Interesting facts about Invisalign

Even though Invisalign is becoming more and more popular, here are 3 facts you may not know.

1. Invisalign uses state-of-the-art technology

Before you begin your treatment, Dr. Parra uses a special 3D scanner to take an image of your teeth. She then employs computer software to create your treatment plan that shows which teeth need to be realigned. A series of unique clear aligners are created just for you, and they’re made of an advanced material so they fit over your teeth perfectly.

2. Invisalign is comfortable and easy to use

Invisalign trays are made of SmartTrack®, a soft, flexible material that’s comfortable to wear. Unlike chunky metal braces, the Invisalign trays won’t irritate or cut your lips or gums.

Since Invisalign trays are not permanent, you can take them out when you eat and drink, and when you brush and floss your teeth. It’s best to wear the aligners for 22 hours a day. But if you have a special occasion, you can remove the trays for a few hours.

3. Invisalign gives fast results

The length of Invisalign treatment varies with each person, depending on their unique treatment plan. Most people, however, complete treatment in only about a year.
